For one day every month the Nathan Taylor Basket Shop sets aside their work and everyone starts production making kits for the Pay It Forward Berry Patch Basket Project. In this small way we are hoping to contribute to many good deeds.
The premise is simple. We at the Basket Shop donate a kit to a basket maker who wishes to participate in the program. The basket maker is to make the Berry Patch Basket. Sign the bottom of the basket with his or her name followed by P.I.F. and the number the kit was assigned. They are then to give the basket away along with the little card that is in the kit. Some ideas would be fundraisers, benefit auctions, schools, hospitals, food banks, Scouting, 4-H, museums, or just someone who needs a bit of encouragement. The choice is made by the basket maker.
The little card that goes with the basket states that this basket has been given to you by the maker through a series of gifts and love of the craft. When it has served its purpose, you may wish to pay it forward by passing it on. The basket is numbered and registered through our basket shop. It is our hope that we will be able to follow the course of the basket through the years by the new recipient registering their receiving the basket.
Anyone may request one of these basket kits while the supply lasts. We do not ship them but we always take a supply to each convention we attend. If we are filling a mail order for you and you would like us to add one of these kits if available we have been known to do so.
Please help us to continue this project and encourage the generosity of basketmakers nationwide.
